Happy Fourth Birthday, Stephen Eve 🎉

This month we celebrate four years in business and we’re proud of what the team has built together over that time.

From our early days working from home as just two founders, we’ve grown into a multi-award-winning financial planning firm with a team of seven (three of whom are Chartered) and a city-centre office in Nottingham. Along the way, we’ve stayed true to what matters most: a goals-based, holistic approach that sits at the heart of everything we do.

What’s become even clearer over time is that none of this happens in isolation. The business today reflects the people behind it - our hardworking team and the shared standards we hold to deliver for clients.

Where it all started

Stephen Eve Financial Planning started from a conversation about doing work that properly aligned with our values and felt more personal than our careers at the time.

Ben and I both found ourselves disillusioned with the direction our jobs were heading. For myself, coming from a corporate retail background, I wanted to make a more meaningful, direct impact. Ben, having worked his way up to Chartered status within a financial planning SME, felt the shift after a large conglomerate takeover and knew it was time to build something different.

Together, we set out to create a business grounded in a clear way of working - where advice is shaped around real lives and long-term goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

We’ve always believed that taking the time to understand each client properly leads to better outcomes and more confidence in the decisions being made.

From the outset, we also wanted to challenge perceptions in financial services, making advice more accessible and highlighting career opportunities in a profession where younger voices are still underrepresented.

The last 12 months: a year of progress

This past year has been one of the most rewarding yet. Not without its challenges, but full of moments that remind us why we started.

Growing the team

We were delighted to welcome three new team members: Ali as our new administrator, Ryan as our Paraplanner, and Sally as our financial planner.

Building a team isn’t just about adding headcount, it’s about finding people who share your values. That alignment ensures clients receive consistent, high-quality advice, and creates an environment where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

Recognition from our peers

For the second year running, we were named in the Citywire New Model Adviser Top 100.

To be recognised again among the best in the profession means a lot, particularly as it reflects the way we work as a team and support our clients day-to-day.

Citywire described us as a firm that “takes pride in its tight-knit team offering personable and grounded advice that enables clients to achieve their own form of wealth.”

Trust, responsibility, and perspective

This year also saw us reach £65m of assets under management.

Milestones like this are worth acknowledging, but what matters most to us is the trust behind the number. We’re privileged to support clients through life’s changes and help them work towards their long-term goals.

Seeing both our client base and the funds we manage increase is encouraging. At the same time, we remain focused on maintaining the level of service that got us here in the first place.

Investing in our people

A big part of our progress this year has come from within the team.

Ryan is one exam away from completing his Diploma in Financial Planning, an achievement that reflects his dedication to the profession and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Rav also took a big step forward, earning a promotion to Trainee Financial Planner and quickly becoming a hit with clients.

We believe strongly in developing people. Supporting the team to grow, both professionally and personally, is essential to what we’re building.

Looking ahead, together

One of the most valuable things we’ve done this year is take time to step back and think about the future.

As a team, we’ve worked on defining our purpose, vision, mission, and values—something that’s easy to overlook when you’re busy, but so important to get right.

Getting everyone involved means we’re not just talking about what we stand for, we’re putting it into practice. It keeps us aligned, accountable, and focused on delivering the right outcomes.

It’s also helped us build a culture we’re proud of—one where people feel valued, supported, and part of something meaningful.

Interested in what we landed on? Here they are:

Our purpose: Empowering generations to confidently navigate life’s financial journey and achieve their own form of wealth.

Our vision: To be the trusted choice for people seeking financial clarity and peace of mind.

Our mission: Guiding clients through life’s changes with exemplary service, transparency, and the utmost care.

What we’ve learned

If there’s one thing this year has reinforced, it’s that how you do things matters just as much as what you achieve.

  • The right people make all the difference
  • Culture isn’t a buzzword, it’s the foundation
  • Taking time to reflect and plan is invaluable
  • Consistency is key as you grow
  • Always think and act client-first

Thank you

As we look back, now is a good time to thank our clients, team, and everyone who has supported us along the way. Couldn't do it without you!

We’re proud of what we’ve built over the past four years, but we’re even more excited about what comes next.

Here’s to year five!
